Undermount Art Basins in Gloss White
An undermount basin is fixed beneath the vanity top so the benchtop edge runs cleanly to the bowl with no rim on top. In a gloss white finish it gives a seamless, minimal look that's easy to wipe straight into — a favourite for stone and solid-surface tops.
What makes it “undermount”
Unlike a drop-in basin, an undermount is bonded to the underside of the benchtop, so the top surface is uninterrupted. That lets you sweep water and toothpaste straight off the bench into the bowl, with no raised rim to catch grime. It works best with a waterproof, machinable benchtop — engineered stone, natural stone or solid surface — because the exposed cut edge needs to be sealed and polished. It’s less suited to a laminate top, where the raw edge can swell if water gets in.
Why gloss white
A bright white glaze keeps the basin looking fresh and reflects light back into the room, which helps in a compact ensuite. White pairs with any tapware finish — chrome, brushed nickel, matte black or brushed brass — so you’re free to change the look over time without the basin fighting it.
Planning the install
Undermount basins are usually set out with the tap on the wall or the benchtop, since there’s no tap ledge on the bowl. Confirm the overflow arrangement to choose the right slotted or unslotted waste, and have the benchtop fabricator cut the bowl to the manufacturer’s template so the reveal (how much bench edge shows) is even. Because the fixing is permanent, it’s worth getting these details right before fabrication.
