Wall-Faced Toilet Pans

A wall-faced pan sits on the floor with its back flush against the wall, hiding the trap and pipework for a clean, easy-to-clean line. It's the most popular modern toilet style — the streamlined look of a wall-hung suite without the in-wall cistern.

Wall-faced vs other pans

Where an older S-trap or P-trap pan leaves the trap and connector visible, a wall-faced pan encloses them behind the ceramic so the suite reads as one smooth shape. It still bolts to the floor, so it’s simpler to install than a wall-hung pan and doesn’t need a frame in the wall — a good middle ground for a straightforward renovation.

Get the set-out right

The critical number is the set-out: the distance from the finished wall to the centre of the floor waste. Wall-faced pans suit a particular set-out range, and many use an adjustable connector to cope with variation, but it’s worth confirming your rough-in before you buy so the pan sits tight to the wall. Check whether your waste exits to the floor or the wall.

Comfort and cleaning

Look for a rimless bowl — with no hidden rim channel it flushes cleaner and is far quicker to wipe. A soft-close seat is standard and worth having, and a slightly taller pan is more comfortable for many people. A good dual-flush water rating keeps running costs down.
