400mm Shower Arms for Overhead Roses

A long 400mm shower arm is used to drop an overhead rose well clear of the wall — or down from the ceiling — so the spray falls straight over the standing area. It's the fitting that lets a large rain head sit where it works best rather than pinned tight against the tiles.

When you need the extra length

A standard arm keeps the rose close to the wall, which is fine for a compact recess but leaves a large rain head spraying partly against the tiles. A 400mm arm carries the rose out over the middle of the shower so the full face lands on you. It’s especially useful with wide rain roses, in deeper recesses, or where the outlet had to be positioned to one side.

Wall drop versus ceiling mount

The same long arm can extend horizontally from the wall or drop vertically from the ceiling, depending on how the rough-in was set. A ceiling drop gives a clean, symmetrical rainfall directly overhead and suits a minimalist recess; a wall-mounted long arm is simpler to plumb and still clears the head well forward. Decide which before the walls are lined, since the outlet position is fixed once tiled.

Support and finish

A longer arm carries more leverage, so it should be solidly built and firmly anchored to avoid droop over time. Match its finish and profile — round or square — to the rose and the rest of the tapware for a consistent look.
